Some insect larvae have Prolegs on abdominal segments as well as the normal 6 legs insects have on their thorax. Prolegs are soft and hydraulically extended, often with a circlet of spines to help grip. There are a pair of similar claspers (sometimes considered additional prolegs) on the last segment. These structures are typical of larvae of the Symphyta and Lepidoptera.
