Insect leg parts
 
The five principal sections are shown here, and the femur and tibia (named after mammal legs) are the longest sections. The coxa and trochanter work a bit like a hip joint, and the tarsus has five sections, and often bristles and claws to hold on to the substrate. Legs can be variously modified for eg swimming or sound making.  Spider and harvestmen have more leg divisions, but some of the terms are the same
